Milind Rege requests MCA for pension for widowed sister

MUMBAI: Milind Rege, who's been a former Mumbai captain and chief selector, has requested Mumbai Cricket Association president Vijay Patil to restart the pension for his widowed sister Pushpa Diwadkar, whose husband Sharad Diwadkar, an ex-Mumbai off-spinner, who took 211 wickets in 82 First-Class [email protected], passed away in 2005.

In an email (TOI has a copy) he wrote to Patil on Thursday, Rege, 73, has lauded the MCA and its Apex Council for approving a contract system for Mumbai's first-class players and hiking the 'one-time purse' for retired umpires from Rs 10,000 to Rs 50,000 a day earlier.
