Mikel Arteta told he's struck "perfect balance" as Arsenal duo finally begin to flourish

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has been commended for finding the "perfect balance" in his midfield after a run of fine results.

The Gunners saw off Leicester 2-0 at home on Sunday to extend their winning run to five matches.

Arsenal now sit in the top four, and have three games in hand on fifth-placed Manchester United.

Arteta's side have come a long way from the struggling outfit that lost their first three Premier League games of the season and sat rock bottom in September.

And former England and Chelsea manager Glenn Hoddle has heaped praise on the performance of two players - Thomas Partey and Martin Odegaard - who have been instrumental in recent weeks.

"For me they looked ok, [they were] not too bad," Hoddle told Premier League Productions of the pair. "But they've now got their feet under the table and they're now playing at their very best.

"The balance between them two players is perfect for the midfield, for me.

"Whoever goes in there and plays with them, at the moment it was Xhaka, but it could be anyone else.

"Those two, they've got a lovely balance, and I think that Partey now is screening that, he knows his job. I think he was trying to do everything when he first arrived he wanted to be a goalscorer and get in the box. He wanted to get back and defend, as well.

"Now they're saying that's your role in the team, and Odegaard then can go and play where he's going to hurt other teams. As I say, I look at him now, he can't wait for the next game.

"I don't care who it is, he's saying 'give me the ball', and when you've got a midfield player like that, you're going to hurt teams.

"Yeah, they've got that lovely balance, particularly in the midfield."

Partey struggled in his first season at the club, with injuries also hampering his chance to build some form.

Meanwhile, Odegaard showed glimpses of what he can do on loan from Real Madrid last term, but has come into his own after joining permanently in the summer.
