It was well known that much had to be done at Arsenal this summer if they were to build from last season and keep the gap between rivals at a minimum.
So far, the expectations have been matched after Mikel Arteta and technical director Edu secured four new signings early on, with more likely on the way. There was an emphasis on raising the bar by taking transfer business to another level this summer, and names such as Gabriel Jesus certainly represent just that.
However, it's not necessarily just the talent of those coming in that will bring the benefits to the team next season. That's because a trend has emerged from the additions made so far, and it's one that is unlikely to be there through coincidence.
