Mikel Arteta sent clear Kieran Tierney and Folarin Balogun message amid Arsenal transfer verdict

Arsenal's summer on the incomings front looks set to be one of their biggest ever, having already secured Kai Havertz from Chelsea the Gunners look set to complete a double deal for Declan Rice and Jurrien Timber from West Ham and Ajax respectively.

A massive statement of intent, especially given the record £105million fee for Rice. As Mikel Arteta looks to turn his squad from title also-rans to bonified champions, there will also be plenty of movement with players leaving the club this summer.

football.london asked Arsenal fans who should be kept and who should be sold at Arsenal in this transfer window, and Edu and Arteta have been sent a clear message.

Having previously been one of the first names on the team sheet, Kieran Tierney saw his place usurped this past season by the surprising sensation of Oleksandr Zinchenko in the left-back position. Zinchenko's inverted role transformed Arsenal's tactics and play and it saw the former Celtic star limited to just 27 appearances in the Premier League, with only five of those coming from the start.

Tierney has not had the best of luck since signing from Celtic in 2019, especially with injuries. The Scotland international has missed a total of 296 days in that time due to various ailments, but he has always remained a vastly popular figure amongst Arsenal fans.

A no-nonsense attitude, swashbuckling runs and an unwavering desire to win has won him great favour with the Gunners faithful. This is clearly shown in the response to the keep or sell survey, as out of over 60,000 respondees, 77% believe Tierney should be kept this summer despite wide-reported interest from elsewhere - quite the statement to those in the Arsenal hierarchy considering selling the Scotsman.

Another player who faces a summer of uncertainty around their Arsenal future is of course Folarin Balogun. Sent on loan to Reims in Ligue 1 last season, few could have predicted how the now U.S.A international would excel in a break-out season in one of Europe's top 5 leagues.

21 goals in 37 games saw Balogun finish joint 4th top scorer in the league, although impressively for a team that finished only 11th. That form has seen him attract interest from all over Europe, and with just two years remaining on his current contract, Arsenal must choose whether to cash in or give him an opportunity to shine in England.

It has certainly gained him fans within the Emirates faithful, as 66.9% believe Balogun should be kept and given a role in Arteta's side next season. Whilst not as emphatic as Tierney, it is certainly a statement as only 50.3% believe fellow Hale End graduate and strike competition Eddie Nketiah should be kept at the club.

Whilst Gabriel Jesus has certainly transformed Arsenal's attack, he has lacked in ice-cold finishing and prolific goal output, though that was made more difficult by his mid-season injury lay-off of course. Balogun could provide the cutting-edge finishing to rival Jesus that Nketiah was unable to, as the latter was replaced by Leandro Trossard in the latter stages of Jesus' absence despite being the obvious choice to replace the Brazilian.

The football.london court of public opinion has had its say to the Arsenal higher-ups, but it remains to be seen where Balogun will be plying his trade this coming season.

One player who has seemingly lost the confidence of Arsenal fans is Rob Holding. One of the Gunners' longest-serving players but perhaps off of the back of a shakey end to the season just 27.2% of voters believe Holding should remain at the club for the next campaign.

Holding joins Pepe, Cedric and a few others who are likely to depart N5 this summer in the list of 'sells'. The full results of the keep or sell survey are listed below, be sure to leave your thoughts in the comments to join the debate!
