Arsenal fans will be over the moon to hear that Mikel Arteta has been impressed by the blossoming relationship between Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah.
The Gunners have made bolstering their strikeforce their top priority this summer after losing Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in quick succession. It meant that Arteta had to sign a forward - and he got his top option in Jesus from Manchester City for around £45million.
Nketiah also signed a new contract as his was about to expire, meaning that there are options that Arteta can choose from. However, there is the chance to play both strikers at the same time in a fluid attack - something that the Arsenal coach experimented with briefly against Orlando City on Thursday.
And it worked to devastating effect after Nketiah got on the scoresheet shortly after Jesus' introduction at half-time. While at the beginning of the summer, there were concerns over who would get the goals at the Emirates next season, Arteta is quickly finding an answer.
When asked about the growing relationship between Nketiah and Jesus, the Spaniard said: "We want to build those relationships, and they haven't played a lot of minutes together yet. The same with Martin and Gabi, for example, and we have to start to do that.
"We obviously do it in training, but to put it in practice in matches, it's important, and you can see that they are finding themselves with good timing, and it's important because there are two players with a big goal threat."
Arsenal were in fine form as they breezed past Orlando City in their latest friendly out in the United States. The Gunners have won all three of their pre-season matches so far, including victories over Nurnberg and Everton.
Gabriel Martinelli opened the scores in the fifth minute to continue his fine form this summer before Uruguay international Facundo Torres equalised after half an hour. However, the north London outfit reasserted their lead when Nketiah netted in the second-half, followed by a strike from Reiss Nelson.
Arsenal face Chelsea next in the Florida Cup on Sunday morning while Arteta has lofty ambitions to try lift the Premier League title. He said: "Our target at this club is to win competition. It cannot be anything else than that, and the way we are building the squad is to achieve that.
"Today we are feeling precision. The window is not closed. The squad is not closed. We will set our targets internally, but they won't be at the end of the season. It will be much shorter because that's still too far and a lot of things will happen."
