Arsenal defender Konstantinos Mavropanos has admitted that he would like to play in the Premier League once again amid speculation over his future.
The Greek centre-back is currently in the midst of a successful loan spell with Bundesliga outfit VfB Stuttgart having fallen out of contention at the Emirates Stadium under Mikel Arteta.
Despite the club lingering just above the relegation zone, Mavropanos’ performances have been eye-catching having made 19 appearances in all competitions and scoring an outstanding five goals.
It is expected that he will move to Stuttgart on a permanent deal sooner rather than later, with the German outfit retaining an obligation to buy Mavropanos should they stave off the threat of relegation to the second-tier - a deal confirmed by former Arsenal man Sven Mislintat.
Talking in October, he said: "We have a purchase obligation of €3million (£2.5million) if we remain in the league."
The Greek’s permanent stay at the Mercedes-Benz Arena might not be too long though, with it being reported that the likes of Borussia Dortmund and Newcastle United are interested in a €30m (£25m) deal for the Arsenal man - a move that would see the Gunners lose out on a hugely significant fee.
Amid the interest in his services, Mavropanos has finally spoken. Speaking to BILD, he has suggested that his current employers are his priority but would not rule out a return to England in the future.
“Stuttgart is one of the biggest clubs in Germany,” Mavropanos said.
“At the moment, I’m only concentrating on VfB and making sure we stay in the league.
“I would like to play in the Premier League again at some point. But at the moment, I feel very comfortable at VfB.”
Signed from PAS Giannina in 2018, the now 24-year-old defender has made just eight appearances for Arsenal - the last being a 2-2 Europa League draw with Belgian outfit Standard Liege back in December 2019.
