Mikel Arteta reveals how Storm Eunice has affected Arsenal's training plans ahead of Brentford

Storm Eunice has been causing havoc in the UK today, disrupting Arsenal's training plans ahead of the Brentford clash in the process.

Described by BBC Weather as one of the worst storms in decades, it has resulted in The Met Office issuing red weather warnings - meaning there is a danger to life - covering much of southern and eastern England and south Wales.

The storm has already caused high winds which has led to power cuts, flight cancellations, hundreds of school closures, and a number of major bridges being closed.

In addition, Storm Eunice has forced Arsenal to change their plans at London Colney as Mikel Arteta 's side prepare to welcome Brentford to the Emirates Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

When asked how Storm Eunice had affected his side's preparations, the Gunners manager revealed the changes that had to be made to his pre-planned session.

"We had to change the session," Arteta revealed. "It was too windy to do what we wanted to do so we had to adapt and do one part inside and one part outside.

"We were safe which is the most important thing and we managed to do some bits."

In other news for Arsenal, Arteta has confirmed that Takehiro Tomiyasu and Bernd Leno are both in contention to return to the matchday squad against Brentford after missing the win over Wolves through injury and Covid-19 respectively.

"We are all good," the Spaniard said. "The doubt was Tomiyasu which is still not perfect, but he's trained the last few days so he is in contention and we can use him.

"That's very positive.

"We know that Gabi [Gabriel Martinelli] is out with the red card he picked up against Wolves and the rest of the players are OK."

"Yes, he [Leno] is fine, he recovered well, he didn't have too many symptoms, he's been training the last few days and he felt good.

"He will be available."
