Mikel Arteta receives key Arsenal winger boost despite Mykhailo Mudryk transfer disappointment

Arsenal were unable to sign a winger in the summer transfer window, despite the clear need to strengthen in the wide areas. Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli have a lot of pressure to perform until the next opportunity to address this area of the pitch opens.

And matters got worse in that regard for Arsenal during the Gunners’ friendly fixture against Juventus at the Emirates Stadium before the Premier League restart. Reiss Nelson pulled up with a hamstring injury that has ruled him out of action indefinitely.

However, the Arsenal winger has provided an update on his progress, which could spell positive news. This comes after the Gunners’ disappointment in failing to strengthen in the wide areas over the last couple of weeks.

Nelson released a post on his Instagram story where he is seen running on the treadmill. The winger has been absent for the last month following the injury suffered against Juventus.

His return will be seen as a major boost for Arsenal. Especially when taking into consideration that Arsenal suffered a major blow in the transfer window following Chelsea’s acquisition of Mykhailo Mudryk from Shakhtar Donetsk. The Gunners were advanced in their negotiations before the Blues hijacked a deal.

With Mikel Arteta’s side still extremely light in the wide areas, Nelson’s progress in his recovery from injury will be a welcome sight for the north London side, as they continue the title pursuit.
