Mikel Arteta has chance to exact Arsenal's Juventus revenge by signing £65m Brazil star

Arsenal must not let Juventus complete the signing of Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City. Especially when you take into consideration the Gunners’ recent failure to sign Dusan Vlahovic because of the Old Lady.

According to our sister site, Daily Star, Juventus are set to sign Jesus from City. But the report goes on to say that this will only happen if the Premier League side can wrap up a deal for Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund.

Arsenal will desperately need to sign a striker in the summer and Jesus would certainly be an excellent acquisition if he was able to be signed. And there should be an extra incentive to sign him to get revenge on Juventus after the Vlhaovic saga.

Arsenal fans were left disappointed when it was announced that the Fiorentina striker had chosen Juventus, even though this was the players’ plan all along, as the agent reportedly used Arsenal to gain more money. This was certainly should be a hard lesson learned for Edu in future transfers for the most promising stars in world football.

The signing of Jesus would certainly enhance Edu’s reputation in his ability to acquire a top striker for Arsenal. The Manchester City forward has been pivotal for Pep Guardiola’s successes in recent years, and he could certainly play the same role for Mikel Arteta at Arsenal.

Arteta and the Brazilian international have worked together before during the Spaniard’s three-year tenure at the club as one of Guardiola’s coaching staff. This adds another incentive to secure his signature and improve the forward line ahead of next season.

The Gunners are in desperate need for a striker and will need to sign two forwards ahead of next season if Arteta wants strength in depth. This is because of the likely departure of Alexandre Lacazette , as his contract is set to expire at the end of the season.

If the Frenchman does depart from the club then the Gunners could be left with just one recognised striker in the form of Folarin Balogun. Eddie Nketiah’s contract is also set to expire at the end of the campaign, and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang already left the club in the January transfer window.

Jesus would certainly be an excellent addition for Arsenal, and his contract is set to expire at the end of next season, which means he could be available for a cut-price transfer. He can play across any position in attack, making his versatility an attractive trait for the Gunners.

The 24-year-old has scored 88 goals in 224 games for Manchester City, showing that he has a clear knack for goals in English football, and he has also scored 18 goals in 54 international games for Brazil. Edu should certainly steal Juventus’ proposed transfer for the striker and sign him for Arteta’s side next season.
