Arsenal star Gabriel Martinelli has been spotted still wearing a protective boot on his left foot after suffering ankle ligament damage in the 3-0 defeat against Brighton. Moises Caicedo, who wanted to join the Gunners in January, put in a poor challenge on the Brazilian which later forced him off with an injury last weekend.
Caicedo did express regret at his tackle that hurt young player of the year nominee Martinelli, writing on social media platform Twitter: "If I could turn back time I wouldn't have made that bad tackle." Martinelli has since been ruled out of the remainder of the season and is aiming to return for Arsenal's pre-season preparations.
"Earlier this week, Arteta said: “They are both [Martinelli and Oleksandr Zinchenko] out for the rest of the season. Gabi [Martinelli] is a pretty nasty injury, we need to assess in the next week how long he will be out for and with Alex [Zinchenko] it’s a calf issue," he added.

Both players missed the defeat against Nottingham Forest and will be absent for the final match of the campaign against Wolverhampton Wanderers. Arteta has now been handed a fresh update on Martinelli after the Brazilian was spotted wearing his protective boot in a post on social media.
The normal recovery time for ankle ligament damage would see Martinelli return in six to eight weeks after his injury. If this is the case with the 21-year-old, he will return to training towards the end of June - making him available to take part in pre-season training.
