Mikel Arteta gives Oleksandr Zinchenko Arsenal injury update amid claims season was over

Mikel Arteta failed to confirm that both William Saliba and Oleksandr Zinchenko will miss the rest of the season. Arsenal have suffered a number of issues throughout the season with the end of the campaign not relieving them of any further problems.

Zinchenko was taken off against Newcastle United with what has been suggested by The Athletic to have been a calf issue. Whilst William Saliba came off against Sporting CP in the Europa League and has been absent ever since.

Despite suggestions that both players would miss the rest of the season Arteta said: "We have another session tomorrow before the Brighton game. We’re trying to get players back before that day. With William it’s for sure he’s not gonna be fit for this game and we’re doubting him for next game."

"With William that is for sure [that he will be out], and he will doubt for the next game."

Arteta was then asked whether the situation with Oleksandr Zinchenko being out for the season is not yet confirmed he replied simply, "No."

Arteta has continually avoided confirming whether players would indeed be missing for extended periods. The Arsenal boss is reluctant to rule players out indefinitely and seemingly wants to continue a positive thought process behind any recovery.
