Mikel Arteta disagrees with Arsene Wenger's Arsenal title prediction with 'better' claim

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has disagreed with Arsene Wenger over his claim that there are "no weaknesses" in the current squad after the Frenchman backed the side to be involved in a Premier League title fight. It comes after the Gunners have made a blistering start to the campaign.

With five wins from their opening five, Arteta's men managed to lead the division for the first time in years. However, a loss to Manchester United has seen them drop to second, behind Manchester City, but with the chance to leapfrog them back to the top with victory in their game in hand against Brentford on Sunday.

When asked about his former side's start to the season, Wenger said: "I would say they are moving in the right direction. I honestly think there is no weak position in the team. They are young, promising players and they have bought well this year.

"There is no completely dominating team this season, and Arsenal has a chance with the potential that is there. We used to be in the top four, and why not again? You cannot even rule out the fact that they can fight for the title, and hopefully, they can do it."

While Arteta appreciated the praise for his side, the Spaniard was slightly more reserved about his squad and their chances, believing there is still improvement to be made. Speaking ahead of the clash against Brentford on Sunday, he said: "It's great to hear that from Arsene after being with him every single day!

"But I see a lot of things that we still have to improve on and get better at. We are heading in the right direction, but we can become much, much better."

While there will be hopes that the Gunners can reach those heights set by Wenger, his praise may be proven right as the season continues.
