Mikel Arteta breaks silence on Manchester City's interest in Arsenal star Kieran Tierney

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has broken his silence on defender Kieran Tierney potentially leaving for Manchester City this summer.

The Gunners signed left-back Oleksandr Zinchenko from City last month, leaving Pep Guardiola's side short of options at fullback. Young Spaniard Sergio Gomez is set to arrive from Anderlecht, although that hasn't stopped the reigning Premier League champions from being linked with a move for the aforementioned Tierney in recent times.

During his pre-match press conference ahead of Arsenal's match against Leicester, Arteta was asked about the Scottish international potentially joining the Citizens before the window slams shut. "You know that I’m not going to be commenting on individual cases," he responded.

"He played 15-20 minutes last week and did really well. He’s been out for a long time after the knee injury.

"But he looks in perfect condition now and ready to go." Tierney will be hoping to displace Zinchenko in Arteta's line-up for the match against the Foxes, who they beat home and away last season.

One Leicester player who has continuously been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium in recent times is central midfielder Youri Tielemans, who is into the final ten months of his contract at the King Power Stadium. The Gunners are prepared to wait until Tielemans’ current deal expires to secure the Belgian on a free transfer, football.london understands.

The north Londoners have had an agreement with the player in place for some time but feel that the Foxes' current asking price, which is in the region of £32million, are too high for a player with less than one year remaining on his deal.
