Mikel Arteta breaks silence on FA investigation as new footage emerges of Gabriel and Jordan Henderson

Here are your Liverpool evening headlines for Thursday, October 13.

Mikel Arteta breaks silence on FA investigation

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta says he ‘100 percent’ backs the account of his players amid the FA investigation after last weekend’s clash with Liverpool.

Sunday’s match saw the Reds suffer a 3-2 defeat to the Gunners in the Premier League at the Emirates Stadium. The aftermath of the game resulted in the FA launching an investigation into an incident between Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes and Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson.

The FA said in a statement: "We are aware of an incident that took place during the match between Arsenal and Liverpool . We are in dialogue with the match officials and will review the details of the incident."

Referee Michael Oliver went over to speak to Reds manager Jurgen Klopp and his Gunners counterpart Arteta about the incident. Klopp would not speak any further when asked by reporters post-match. Now Arteta has been asked again about the incident, and as claimed by the Mail Online he says he stood by his players’ account “100 percent”.

New post-match footage of Gabriel and Jordan Henderson emerges

New footage has emerged of Gabriel and Jordan Henderson exchanging words following Arsenal's win over Liverpool last Sunday.

The pair had to be separated by team-mates having been involved in a heated exchange after Gabriel Jesus won a penalty for the Gunners late on at the Emirates.

Referee Michael Oliver received a complaint from the Arsenal centre-back regarding something Henderson had said, resulting in the Premier League official heading over to the touchline to speak with Gunners boss Mikel Arteta and his Liverpool counterpart Jurgen Klopp .

The two players were then asked to share their side of the story to Oliver after the game, according to The Mirror , with this information included in the referee's report and used to support the FA's investigation into the matter. An FA statement released after the game read: "We are aware of an incident that took place during the match between Arsenal and Liverpool. We are in dialogue with the match officials and will review the details of the incident."

One thing that appears to be consistent throughout this process is Gabriel has been left frustrated by whatever the Reds captain has said, highlighted by a post-match recording that has now emerged via the Tasty Football YouTube channel .
