Mikel Arteta adds £22.5m to Arsenal budget to boost hopes of double striker signing

Arsenal confirmed that Alexandre Lacazette will indeed leave the club when his contract expires on June 30. With the Frenchman out, it vacates yet another spot in the striker position after Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang departed in January.

Arsenal have been linked with a number of strikers but no one more prominently than Manchester City’s Gabriel Jesus. The Brazilian international has said that his future will become clearer after Tuesday when he considers the options on the table.

The combined wage reduction after removing both Lacazette and Aubameyang from the squad I considerable. According to Spotrac, Aubameyang was on a £13 million annual salary with Lacazette on approximately £9.5 million per year.
