After another impressive performance from Tennessee Titans rookie quarterback Will Levis in Week 9, fans and media alike are unanimous in the opinion that he should be the starter the rest of the way.
Make no mistake, Levis wasn’t perfect in his second start by any stretch, but he showed more than enough to warrant keeping him under center, especially considering the circumstances.
But head coach Mike Vrabel isn’t ready to name Levis the starter just yet, as he told reporters on Friday.
“No, I’m not ready to do that yet,” Vrabel said, per Jim Wyatt. “I think we’ll have a conversation about the depth chart over the weekend, and we’ll have a depth chart or something close to it available when we talk to you on Tuesday to be able to go through the moving parts of not only Ryan (Tannehill’s) health, but (other positions as well).”
“When Ryan is healthy, I’ll have a decision for you,” he added.
However, in what is a good sign for Levis’ chances, Vrabel mentioned that the future has to be taken into consideration when making the decision, on top of it being based on who gives Tennessee the best chance to win.
Mike Vrabel went on to say they will base the decision on who gives them the best chance to win. But he understands there are also some future implications that have to be considered. https://t.co/fW803JIBFj

Of course, Levis is the future, but I’d also argue he gives the Titans the best chance to win right now. As tough as things were on Thursday night, I think they would’ve been even worse if Tannehill was under center.
As far as Levis’ performance was concerned, Vrabel noted there were some good things in there, but he also pointed to negatives.
“There were some good plays, and there were some decisions that we can’t make,” Vrabel said. “Throwing the ball into Cover 2 down the sideline isn’t something that’s going to be very advantageous offensively if you are trying to take care of the football.”
After what we’ve seen out of Levis the first two games, combined with the rocky season Tannehill has had and Tennessee’s 3-5 record, going from the rookie back to the veteran will be a tough sell for Vrabel.
