Mike Tyson has been "taking supplements" as he prepares to make a return to the boxing ring later this year, according to Joe Rogan.
The legendary former world heavyweight champion has been eyeing up another comeback fight after landing in the pay-per-view top 10 with his exhibition bout against Roy Jones Jr in 2020. He would almost certainly beat that sales number if he could get the eyeballs that would be attracted by having one of Jake or Logan Paul as his opponent.
After retiring in the early 2000s, Tyson struggled to remain fully fit, but he has drastically turned his life around, thanks in part to a number of supplements. There is no indication that any of what Tyson takes is illegal, and generally the rules would be more lenient for exhibition bouts than a standard fight anyway.
Floyd Mayweather has been competing in exhibition bouts over the past few years and there have been comparisons made between him and Tyson. But the 50-0 fighter competed at the smaller weight classes and took considerably less damage throughout his career due to his defensive style. He was never legitimately dropped by a punch and avoided being badly hurt in most fights.
"The difference between Floyd and Mike Tyson is Floyd’s a 155lb," Rogan explained during an episode of his podcast. "Mike Tyson’s 220lb, solid as a rock. Even if he’s 55-years-old, he’s on all the Mexican supplements. He’s on everything. They use electrical muscular stimulation on him."
Electrical muscle stimulation is not illegal in professional sports and has been endorsed by a number of top athletes as a legitimate method of improving recovery after training. Tyson looked in solid shape for his fight with Jones in 2020, which ended in a draw as no official score was declared for the bout.
He would need to train particularly hard to face either Paul, with Jake holding legitimate knockout power as a 5-0 professional boxer. They are both naturally longer and taller, although they have less bulky physiques than the ex-heavyweight star.

"Tyson is 55-years-old," Rogan added. "And they’re still talking about him fighting either Logan or Jake Paul. Like, that is crazy. And I don’t know what would happen. I think Jake would probably be the better fight. The better one is Jake. Jake is the one who knocks people out. Logan’s more of a boxer.”
Logan has had less success than his brother in an athletic sense since turning professional in 2019. He drew his first amateur fight against British YouTuber KSI, on the same night that Jake beat the Watford native's brother, Deji.
Then, in his paid debut against KSI, the older Paul was defeated by split decision after having two points deducted for an illegal shot against the Brit. He took almost two years out due to the pandemic before competing in an eight-round exhibition with Mayweather last summer, which went the distance and had no winner, although he was hit essentially at will throughout the 24-minute contest.
