Mike Tyson advises Deontay Wilder to fight Anthony Joshua following Tyson Fury defeats

Mike Tyson has advised Deontay Wilder to pursue a clash with Anthony Joshua if he makes a comeback after his defeat to Tyson Fury.

The 'Bronze Bomber' was defeated by Fury for the second consecutive fight last year in a brutal war.

He is considering his future in the sport after his latest defeat but has hinted at making a comeback as he desperately searches for redemption.

Legendary heavyweight Tyson believes Wilder should not be "discouraged" by his recent performance and advised him to make a return.

"I'm always entertained when those guys fight," Tyson told Club Shay Shay. "I think Wilder should fight some other guys too, he would do good man.

"I don't want him to get discouraged he should very happy, and he should get ready to fight somebody else right away. I would love to see that fight with Anthony Joshua yes.

"There isn't going to be much style they are just gonna be swinging."

Wilder's only career defeats have come against Fury with the American star previously reigning as an undefeated champion before the historic trilogy.

He has defeated the likes of Luis Ortiz, Malik Scott and Dominic Brezeale but is yet to test himself against some of the division's other leading contenders.

The 36-year-old was previously close to facing Joshua in 2018 and the fight would have taken place, if the offer from Wilder's team had been increased from the $50million that Joshua rejected to stage the event at Wembley.

However the fight collapsed despite talks being held for the pair to face in a mega-fight and Joshua instead went on to defend his unified titles against Alexander Povetkin.

He was then defeated by Andy Ruiz forcing him to seek redemption in a mega-money fight in Saudi Arabia where he secured victory.

Joshua now faces another revenge mission as he seeks to avenge his defeat to Oleksandr Usyk last year who grabbed the unified world titles at a first challenge attempt.

Wilder has hinted at retirement but could look to make a planned re-emergence at world level, with his co-manager Shelly Finkel suggesting previously he may look to finally meet with Joshua.

“My gut says the big fights. It’s not on the drawing board now, but he would love to get Fury back again," Wilder's co-manager Shelly Finkel previously told SunSport. “But again, it’s early and we have to get through Usyk and Joshua and see a couple of other possibilities.

“It’s a massive fight [Wilder vs Joshua], no matter what happens in the Joshua - Usyk fight. And I’m not sure that Usyk, even with his great skills, will be able to deal with the size of Fury.

“He’s healing and at this point, if everything is OK, after the hand surgery he’ll probably look to enter the ring mid next year, like April or May."
