It appears that Kenny Pickett avoided a serious long-term injury. Mike Tomlin confirmed Monday’s report from Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette that Pickett suffered a bone bruise in a loss to the Houston Texans on Sunday.
Tomlin provided an early update on his status for the critical divisional showdown with the Baltimore Ravens, saying Pickett is scheduled to participate “in some level” of practice tomorrow.

“His functionality and comfort being the guide tomorrow, the more functional, more comfortable he is, the more work he’ll get,” Tomlin said at his weekly press conference.
Pickett is prepared to get on the practice field, and how that goes will determine the direction the team will take at quarterback for the game against the Ravens.
Rookie Broderick Jones will start for the Steelers at left tackle with Dan Moore Jr. dealing with a knee sprain. DeMarvin Leal is in concussion protocol, and Pat Freiermuth is “very doubtful” with his hamstring injury. Pressley Harvin III (hamstring) and James Daniels (groin) have not yet been cleared but could play.
