Mike McCarthy Shows Appreciation for How Dak Prescott Handles Being ‘Under a Microscope’ As Cowboys QB

Cowboys fans are no joke, and neither are the team's critics.

Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott knows what to expect as the team’s leading man when it comes to criticism. Despite making the playoffs four times in his seven seasons with the Cowboys, the team hasn’t made it past the divisional round since Dallas won the 1995 season Super Bowl.

Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy spoke on the pressure Prescott faces as the team’s starting quarterback, and admitted how much he admires how the 30-year-old handles it all.

“Speaking on experience of being around great quarterbacks, I’ve never seen a quarterback under a microscope like he is,” McCarthy said on Mad Dog Sports Radio. “Just his consistency, his personality and work ethic, and how he handles all that, and navigates all that and he goes out and performs every week. I think it’s special what he has to endure.

“I think the intensity of the microscope on Dak—I’ve never seen anything like it,” McCarthy continued. “For him to be as consistent, his attitude is very much the same every day as far as how he attacks the preparation part of it, you have to be unique to deal with that. And this is Year Eight for him, so he’s been dealing with this a long time here. The intensity is nothing like I’ve ever seen.”

The Cowboys moved to 4–2 on the season after beating the Chargers on Monday night.
