Mike Evans caught a lot of TD passes from Tom Brady during their two years together in Tampa Bay but chances are the GOAT will remember two of them the most because they were special moments.
But both times Evans made the mistake of giving the important balls away, handing one to a fan and flinging another into the crowd.
I’m talking, of course, about the time the star WR gave Brady’s 600th TD ball to a fan and then the time Evans fired Brady’s final TD ball into the crowd during the Bucs’ playoff loss to the Rams.
I was able to sit down with Evans today in the Planters’ Nut Mobile and asked him about why he was so forgetful about the Brady’s important TD balls.

He said:
“You gotta understand. Before Tom came to the Bucs I was always throwing balls away to the fans, I showed love to the fans by giving them a souvenir. When Tom came they started putting people in the back of the end zones and were chasing me down and saying this is a memorable ball. I wasn’t very aware but in the heat of the moment that stuff happens.”
On that final TD ball he said:
“That one is unpredictable. I didn’t know he was going to retire. I’m thinking we might have to throw another touchdown. I’m sure he doesn’t care about that ball in a losing effort.”
I think Brady might want that football but maybe Evans is right. And maybe that won’t be Brady’s last TD pass.
