Midlothian schoolgirl, 14, not seen in two days sparks urgent police appeal

Police in Midlothian are appealing to the public following the disappearance of a schoolgirl in the area.

14-year-old Rachael Lawrie was last seen in the Newbattle area of Midlothian on Thursday, May 26, around 11:50am.

Rachael went to school that day as usual and was last seen on Newbattle Road, walking towards Easthouses.

She is described as around 5ft 5ins with long, fair hair. It is not known what she was wearing.

Sergeant Ross Falconer said: “Rachael has been reported missing before and we are concerned for her well-being and would ask anyone who has seen her or knows where she might be to get in touch.

“She has connections in Lanark and in Dunfermline and may have travelled to the Glasgow area.

“If you can help please call us on 101, quoting reference number 1296 of Thursday, 26 May, or get in touch with any police officer.”
