Midlothian pensioner rushed to hospital after accident at roundabout

A Midlothian woman was rushed to hospital after being involved in a crash at the weekend.

The 83-year-old was hit by a car when she was crossing Eskbank Road, near Justinlees Roundabout, in Dalkeith and was involved in a collision with a Ford Kuga.

The female driver of the car was uninjured but was badly shaken up by the incident, Midlothian police report.

Emergency services rushed to the scene and the pensioner was taken to hospital for fracture injuries.

Enquiries are under way to establish the full circumstances of the incident.

Constable Stewart Logan said: “At the time of the incident, traffic was moving quite slowly and I am appealing to motorists who were in the area at the time to contact us with any information they may have. It’s important we have as much information as possible to enable us to establish exactly what has happened.”
