Middle-aged women escaping midweek for a cheeky break with the gals has overtaken younger lad’s and girls’ getaways.
Booked on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, they have become the most popular short-break trend of late, according to travel experts On the Beach.
And it’s the middle-aged mums-who-seek-fun market that is dominating demand, claim the travel specialists.
Leaving on a Wednesday and returning on a Friday has proven particularly popular for busy mums, allowing them to return refreshed and ready to tackle their weekend activities.
The beach holiday experts have seen a 481% rise since 2019 in mini-jaunts booked by females in the 35-44 age range bracket, followed closely by the 25 to 34-year-old age group.
These sunshine breaks have bettered all other mid-week offerings demographically, overtaking teen escapes in the 18-30s age bracket and trouncing lads’ getaways at any age too.
In the last year alone, On the Beach has reported a 57% increase in demand of women booking Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday getaways.
They are seeing peak bookings during term time, giving burnt out mums the chance to escape while the kids are in class.
Ditching the school gates for airport departure gates, mums are self-medicating with a healthy dose of midweek memories with the gals and escaping the pressures of daily life.

“Mums across the country are taking a well-earned break and sunning themselves in beach locations across Europe.
