As expected, Mid Ulster did not throw up any surprises in the 2022 Assembly Election as the five incumbent MLAs were able to retain their seats for the next term, Sinn Féin once again polling strongly to pick up three seats.
Potential new First Minister Michelle O’Neill topped the poll in her home constituency with 10,845 first preference votes, while party colleagues Linda Dillon and Emma Sheerin both got more than 8,000, as did the DUP's Keith Buchanan.
That left all three just below the 8,615 quota to be elected, with Dillon and Sheerin swiftly following behind their party leader on the second count.
Buchanan was made to wait for his seat to be retained until the Saturday counting, elected following the first stage on the second day.
McGlone finished off the five seats for Mid Ulster, hanging on to the seat he first won in 2003 after being elected after the 8th and final stage.

With a turnout of over 69% the constituency once again well above the Northern Ireland average, and Sinn Féin will be delighted to hold on to another of its three seat constituencies.
Mid Ulster was not tipped to cause any major shocks at the Meadowbank count centre in Magherafelt during this year's vote and that was how it turned out.
The TUV candidate Glenn Moore did poll 3,818 first preference votes to significantly increase the party's support in the constituency.
UUP councillor Meta Graham failed to win a seat in another disappointing result for the party, winning just 2,191 first preferences and compounding its woes.
Alliance newbie Claire Hackett was another that may have been tipped to ride her party’s wave to an unlikely victory, but in the end it didn’t materialise as she polled just over 2,000.
As with previous years, a high turnout was recorded once again in the constituency, but dropped to 69.54% from more than 72% five years ago.
