A frustrated Mid Coast coach Michael Grass is turning to all kinds of venues to keep his players ticking over as wet weather plays havoc with training and games.
Mid Coast faced a similar scenario at the start of last season due to flooding but Grass said this year has been worse.
As they eye a tough round-six challenge in unbeaten leaders Broadmeadow in Taree on Saturday night, Mid Coast have played just three NPLW NNSW games and training has been limited due to extremely wet grounds.
"In the last 11 weeks, we've been on a football field five times," Grass told the Newcastle Herald on Wednesday.
"We can't do anything. Last night we trained on a tennis court, tonight we're on a basketball court. It's just making things incredibly difficult.
"There's very little you can do regards to game scenarios or game training. You're just working on short, sharp things in small areas as best you can and try to improve each individual's touch and conditioning.
"You can do all the conditioning training you want but you don't get match fitness unless you're playing games and, unfortunately, we're not playing any."
Jets pair Claire Coelho and Hannah Brewer have signed with Mid Coast but are yet to play. Grass said Coelho was a couple of weeks away due to an ankle injury but Brewer could have her first outing on Saturday.
