Simply put, we’ve never seen Patrick Mahomes melt down as he did on Sunday after a 20-17 defeat to the Buffalo Bills.
After a Kadarius Toney offsides call wiped out what could have been a wild game-winning touchdown for the Kansas City Chiefs, Mahomes went straight at the referees. Then he claimed that the (again, correct) call hurt Travis Kelce’s Hall of Fame career. (Kelce is strutting into the Hall of Fame the moment he’s eligible.)
We should’ve seen all of this coming after Mahomes’ postgame exchange with the Bills’ Josh Allen. In a video courtesy of Thad Brown and WROC-TV in Buffalo, Mahomes was fuming. He didn’t spare one of his top quarterback peers from sharing his feelings about the officiating.

Man, what on Earth is going with Mahomes? He’s usually one of the more calm and collected NFL players. This whole tantrum from the field to the press room does not reflect well upon him after getting an unlucky call. And Allen shouldn’t have to listen to Mahomes throw a fit about the refs when he was already greeting his rival out of respect.
I’m almost in disbelief Mahomes was down this badly after just one loss. It’s legitimately shocking to see.
This was how Twitter reacted to Mahomes' exchange with Allen
Throwing that in Josh’s face after that game is 🚮 from Mahomes man. He comes off as such a piss ant tonight. https://t.co/RiOjir0gI7

If the line judge really did get a point from Toney and didn't tell him to move back, the ref should lose their job.
WITH THAT BEING SAID Josh is absolutely not trying to hear this. Lame https://t.co/qZJMdvEmZ0

This ain't it. And I genuinely feel like the frustration is more about the way this year has gone than one play. https://t.co/VuPNSLF5xf

Brady and Rodgers are the biggest cry baby quarterbacks in NFL history, but at least they walk away when they don’t want to show their counterpart respect. This is nuts. https://t.co/mu7ZT6cJJ2

Imagine complaining to Allen of all people about bad losses 🤣
Especially the guy who hand delivered him maybe the most heart breaking loss in league history. https://t.co/OSov3C6uSe

I have never seen such a public meltdown over a CORRECT call from the refs. This should haunt Patrick Mahomes. Completely inexcusable behavior. What a slap in the face to Josh, who is always cordial, even after a tough loss. The Chiefs have embarrassed themselves big time! https://t.co/a4PrF7wnDy
