FAQs

Does Microsoft offer free shipping?

Yes, Microsoft offers free expedited shipping on all orders with no minimum spend as standard when you sign in to a Microsoft account, meaning your order should arrive in 2 - 3 working days at no additional cost. If you want to receive your items even faster, you can also pay $16.99 for express delivery at the checkout, which should arrive in 1 - 2 working days. Note that if you checkout as a guest, Microsoft will send your order via ground shipping, which should arrive in 3 - 7 working days.

Do Microsoft purchases come with a warranty?

Most Microsoft products are covered by a default 1-year warranty, protecting you against defects and manufacturer faults. Under the terms of your warranty, you are eligible to send back any items that aren't operating as intended and claim for a replacement.

Some devices are covered by different warranty terms than others. If you want to find more details about your device's warranty, you can do so through the dedicated warranty information page on the Microsoft website.

Does Microsoft price match?

As part of its 60-day price protection promise, if you purchase a product direct from Microsoft and the brand lowers the price within 60 days of the date you placed your order, you're entitled to reclaim the difference.

This offer is also available if you see the same item selling for less with a selected competing retail, such as Best Buy and Amazon (as well as Target, GameStop and Walmart if you've bought an Xbox). To make a claim, just get in touch with the Microsoft team.

What’s the Microsoft returns policy?

Should you decide you no longer want your item and wish to send it back to Microsoft, the company offers a 60-day returns period for physical devices, with free returns shipping provided to save you on costs.

To start the returns process, you'll need to sign in to your account, go to your order history, find the product you'd like to send back, and click the 'Request a return' button. Note that this button will only be available if your product is eligible.

Items need to be sent back in like-new condition and their original packaging in order to qualify for a full refund. Once your item has arrived back with Microsoft, your refund should arrive within a week. Software and digital products are not eligible to be returned.

Microsoft Saving Tips

Watch for deals

Like many tech brands, Microsoft regularly offers deals on its hardware and software, with savings to be had around key holiday periods including Black Friday, Cyber Monday, Labor Day, President's Day and more. These sales tend to be the most wide-reaching, but you'll also find smaller deals all year round.

Here at PC Gamer, we keep a close eye on the latest Microsoft has to offer, which can include up to 70% off hardware and software, with up to $700 off selected devices. We update this page regularly with the latest deals, so check in whenever you're considering a purchase for your best chance to save.

Get a student discount

If you're studying, you can save up to 10% across the Microsoft range when you verify your status through the brand's site. As well as savings to be had on Surface laptops and Xbox products, you can also access Office 365 for free, plus these deals are also available to teachers and educational staff who can verify their employment status. Simply head to the Microsoft education store to get started.

Get a military discount

If you're an active, former, or retired member of the military, or the family of military personnel, you can also get up to 10% off Microsoft orders thanks to the brand's military discount. Once again, you'll need to provide some details to verify your status before you can access these deals, so head over to the Microsoft website's dedicated page to get started.

Trade in old tech

Got old Microsoft devices you no longer use? Trade them in and you could get a discount on your next order, with up to $130 in cashback for Xbox products and up to $500 off selected Surface devices when you trade in an older model, and the choice of cash pay outs if you'd prefer money in the bank. Your shipping costs will even be covered with a prepaid label.

How much you'll be offered depends on your device and its condition. You can provide some details through the Microsoft site to get a quote, and if you're happy with what you're offered, send your tech off to be inspected. You'll receive payment via PayPal or bank transfer within 14 days of Teladvance - Microsoft's chosen trade-in partner - receiving and confirming the condition of your device.

Buy refurbished

If you don't need your next device to be brand new, you can shop the Microsoft refurbished range for the chance to save up to 36% on hardware. Items sold as refurbished have been thoroughly inspected, tested and repaired by the Microsoft team to ensure they are like-new, plus Surface devices are covered by a 12-month warranty, with refurbished Xbox purchases backed up for 90 days, meaning you can get a replacement in the event of any unexpected faults.

Join the mailing list

If you want to get all the latest offers, news, and product information sent straight to your inbox, you can sign up for the Microsoft newsletter for free through the brand's site by providing your chosen email address. Doing so will let you see chances to save as soon as they're available, and you'll also receive the occasional exclusive offer to help you save a little extra.

How to use Microsoft coupons

  1. Once you’ve found the offer you’d like to use, click the ‘Get Code’ button underneath the offer. This will make a pop-out box appear, showing the code. It will also open a tab on the Microsoft website.
  2. Click the ‘Copy’ button in the pop-out box to copy the coupon.
  3. Time for shopping! Add the items you want to buy to your cart as you go.
  4. Once you have everything you need, head to the checkout.
  5. At the payment section, you'll see a text field where you can paste in your code.
  6. Click 'Apply' and your order total should update to include your savings.

How we source coupon codes

All the codes you see on PC Gamer have been sourced by our dedicated coupons team. Using our affiliate networks, partnerships with brands, and the world wide web, we track down the latest and best coupon codes and ways to save on your online orders. Our pages are updated multiple times a week, and our commercial team also uses their connections to negotiate exclusive codes with big name brands, so you can find all the best available codes and promotions listed in one place.

How we test coupon codes

To ensure that every code you see is ready to use, our team tests each one before uploading it to a page. Whether it's for free shipping, a multibuy offer, a student discount, or savings in the sales, we check that the code can be applied at the checkout and works as described. We don’t include any one-time or user-specific codes, so you haven’t got to worry about anyone else beating you to the punch, and you’ll find codes for products across all kinds of categories.

We also include all the information about a coupon, such as terms and conditions and the expiry date, on the page below the offer description. Simply click ‘Terms & Conditions’ and you’ll expand the code box, where you’ll be able to read any specific instructions or requirements associated with your chosen coupon. We do our best to update this information whenever any changes are made, with each page checked at least twice a week.

What to do if a coupon code doesn’t work

Despite our best efforts, sometimes coupons won’t work as expected. Expiry dates and terms and conditions can be changed by the retailer, or the code may simply no longer be accepted. Should you run into any issues, don’t worry - our customer service team is available to offer support.

The first port of call should always be to check the coupon’s terms and conditions to make sure you meet all requirements. Codes may be product-specific (i.e. 5% off gaming laptops), require a minimum order value (i.e. when you spend $50 or more), or need you to verify your status (i.e. verify with a valid military email address). Click the ‘terms & conditions’ text below the ‘Get Code’ button to view all available information.

If you’re still having issues once you’ve confirmed that you meet the necessary requirements, you can get in touch with our team by sending an email to coupons.pcgamer@futurenet.com. Include a summary of which code you tried to use, where you found it, and what went wrong, and we’ll reply as soon as we can to help out.

How we make money

PC Gamer earns money from its coupon pages through a commission model. We have deals in place with every retailer that has a corresponding coupon page on our site. When you shop with one of these retailers and use one of our codes to get a discount, the brand will pay us a percentage of the final order total in commission.

Using this model means that redeeming a discount through PC Gamer never costs you a thing. We don’t charge any fees to apply a code, and all our money is made directly from retailers, not our audience. You’ll only ever pay for the products or services you buy, with lower prices just as they’re described on the page.
