Tyrone legend Mickey Harte is set for a shock move to Derry side Slaughtneil.
Harte took the reigns of Louth after departing from a legendary stint with Tyrone and will be named as the new Slaughtneil boss.
Belfast Live is reporting that Harte will succeed Paul Bradley after he stepped down following their Derry SFC loss to Glenn.
Robert Emmet’s lost their second successive decider to Watty Graham’s having previously won five county titles in a seven-year period between 2014 and 2020.
Harte stepped down as Tyrone manager at the end of the 2020 season with the Red Hands winning their fourth All-Ireland crown under the new management of Feargal Logan and Brian Dooher in 2021.
The Errigal Ciaran man was keen to remain in charge of Tyrone at the time of his departure and remained in county management into 2021 when he surprisingly was named as Louth’s new senior manager.
He was joined at the Wee County by former Tyrone assistant Gavin Devlin, although it is unlikely that the All-Ireland winning defender will be involved with Harte at Slaughtneil, despite being part of Paul Bradley’s management team in the past.
Devlin has succeeded new Down coach Mickey Donnelly as manager of his native Ardboe.
Harte and Devlin achieved back-to-back promotions with Louth earlier in the year and were rewarded with a new deal which will see them in charge until 2025.
Louth were promoted from Division Four along with Antrim in 2021 and they defeated Limerick to clinch the Division Three title back in April.
Harte has also been part of BBC's Championship coverage in recent seasons and will become the second manager at Slaughtneil who is in charge of a county team as hurling boss Mickey McShane is also manager of the Tyrone hurlers.
It is a busy weekend for the Derry club as McShane’s side begin the defence of their Ulster Club SHC title against Portaferry at Corrigan Park on Sunday while the Slaughtneil Camogs put their provincial title on the line against rivals Loughgiel in the Ulster final at Newry on Saturday.
