Jared Cannonier’s fifth main event inside the octagon proved to be his defining one thus far. He delivered a spectacular performance to decisively beat Marvin Vettori at UFC on ESPN 46.
Cannonier (17-6 MMA, 10-6 UFC) produced a historic output over five rounds, setting.a new single-fight record for most significant strikes landed in the middleweight division in battering Vettori (19-7-1 MMA, 9-5-1 UFC) to a unanimous decision at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.
At 39, Cannonier still appears to be in the thick of his prime, but history proves time is still working against him. He wants another chance for a title shot, but there’s still work to be done if he wants to get there.
