Michigan State vs. Akron: Stream, injury report, broadcast info, predictions for Saturday

Michigan State football plays Akron on Saturday afternoon and if you’re wondering how you can watch the action live, you’ve come to the right place.

The Spartans enter this matchup coming off a victory in their season opener last week. Michigan State topped in-state foe Western Michigan, 35-13, to improve to 1-0.

Akron is also 1-0; the Zips topped Football Championship Subdivision foe St. Francis (Pennsylvania) in overtime last week. It was the first win at Akron for new head coach Joe Moorhead.

Broadcast and Streaming Info

Here’s when you should tune in to see this game between Michigan State and Akron:

  • Date: Sept. 10, 2022
  • Time: 4 p.m. ET
  • TV Channel: Big Ten Network
  • Live Stream: fuboTV (watch here)

Injury Report

Michigan State is expected to be without a pair of defensive starters in this week’s matchup against Akron. Linebacker Darius Snow suffered a season-ending leg injury in last week’s opener against Western Michigan. Safety Xavier Henderson also experienced a serious leg injury last week and is out indefinitely.

Akron, on the other hand, doesn’t have any known notable injuries at this time and is expected to be at full strength for this matchup.

Players to Watch

Here are three players to watch for Michigan State in this matchup against the Zips:

Payton Thorne (QB): Thorne opened the season with an inconsistent performance last week. He threw for four touchdowns but completed only 50% of his throws and had one interception. Thorne looks for a much more polished performance this week against Akron.

Jacoby Windmon (LB): The UNLV transfer stormed onto the scene for Michigan State in last week’s opener against the Broncos. Windmon finished with four sacks and seven tackles, and he should be in line for another big-time performance against Akron.

Jarek Broussard (RB): Broussard had a solid first game as a Spartan, finishing with 54 yards on 10 carries. I’m interested to see if he sees a bigger workload in Week 2 against Akron or if it’s fellow transfer running back Jalen Berger who gets the bulk of the carries for Michigan State.
