Michigan State has seemingly lost a commitment on the hockey side of the athletic department. Jack Sparkes, a defenseman that has played in both the BCHL and USHL, appears to have moved off of his MSU commitment.
The 6-foot-8, 240 pound defenseman was drafted by the Los Angeles Kings in the sixth round of the 2022 NHL Entry Draft, but his development has stalled a touch at the junior level.
With the Spartans having nine rostered defenseman next season, it makes sense for the two parties to move on.
Jack Sparkes without MSU commit in his IG bio now. Makes sense someone would change with now 9 defensemen at MSU. Sparkes has upside with his size but hasn’t been a smooth development in junior either so minutes may have been limited. Best of luck to Jack on his next stop! pic.twitter.com/Ohzky5brXq
