In this day and age, it’s no longer a given that a player will stick with his football program from year to year, so it’s become a new trend this year where guys will actually announce on social media if they are not planning to enter the portal.
One very important player for Michigan State football did just that on Monday, when tight end and team captain Jack Velling announced that he will be running it back for another year with the Spartans.
For Velling, who was a huge pickup from Oregon State this time last year, there were certainly big offers on the table trying to lure him into the portal, but he was also probably the best candidate on the team to at least consider testing the waters on the NFL draft.
