Barker has been a fixture of the Illinois offense for the past three seasons and was being thought as a late-round NFL Draft pick in this upcoming draft. Barker will be a standout tight end, solidifying the position group for the Spartans and allowing Maliq Carr to have one more year to mature and get acclimated to the position.
In his time with Illinois, Barker caught 64 passes for 827 yards and 11 touchdowns. He holds the Illinois school record for most touchdowns caught by a tight end.
