We have been waiting for a final decision on the redshirt status of freshman power forward Jesse McCulloch for a few weeks now, and after MSU’s win over Monmouth on Monday night, Tom Izzo finally revealed his decision, and he made it sound very complimentary and positive for McCulloch.
McCulloch will redshirt for the 2024-25 season, although Izzo noted that it isn’t a ‘permanent redshirt’, and if needed due to injury they will reserve the right to use him later in the season.
Spartans Illustrated quoted Izzo on the decision via their X.com account:
“This kid is redshirting because he’s good enough, not because he’s not good enough… We think this kid is really going to be worth it.”
Chris Solari of the Detroit Free Press also quoted Tom Izzo on his X.com account where Izzo also called McCulloch ‘tough as nails.’
