In the ever-evolving world of college football, position switches are not uncommon. Sometimes, it's done out of necessity when a player isn't living up to expectations. But for Mike Sainristil of the Michigan Wolverines, his switch from wide receiver to defensive back was driven by a different motive.
As Sainristil entered his third season at wide receiver in 2021, he had established himself as a key target and showcased his knack for making highlight-worthy catches. The future on offense seemed bright for him. However, Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh had a different vision during spring ball last year – he saw Sainristil's potential on the defensive side of the ball.
