Michigan’s Fab Five Reunited at Crisler Center for First Time Since 1993

Michigan’s Fab Five, the five acclaimed freshman from the 1991–92 season, were all in attendance at the Crisler Center for the Wolverines’ matchup against Ohio State on Monday for the first time since they played together in college.

The Fab Five members—Jalen Rose, Chris Webber, Juwan Howard, Jimmy King and Ray Jackson—are known for being the core of one of the most iconic recruiting classes in men’s college basketball history.

Rose, Webber, King and Jackson all sat courtside, while Howard coached the Wolverines. The Fab Five received a standing ovation from the Michigan crowd during the first half.

The Fab Five reached the NCAA Final Four twice (1992, ’93), but both of those appearances were vacated due to Webber’s violation of NCAA rules for accepting money from boosters. Banners commemorating the Final Four appearances were taken down at the Crisler Center in 2002.

The reunion meant a lot to Webber after all the group went through together.

“It’s really cool to be here, but it’s better to be here as family,” Webber said, via Tony Garcia of the Detroit Free Press. “If it took 100 years, I’d wait that long to be here, sincerely. So it feels great.”

The five players were known for their fashion on the court during their college years, sporting black athletic shoes, black socks and baggy shorts. They paid homage to that look Monday when some of them wore black pants and black shoes.
