Michigan running back Blake Corum brought the Wolverine faithful a celebratory start to 2023 by announcing he would be returning for his senior season. But with spring practice now underway, fans will have to wait a little while longer to see their All-American running back on the field.
Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh announced Thursday that Corum would not participate in spring practice while rehabbing his injured knee, per ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg. He expects Corum to be fully recovered sometime in June.
Corum injured his left knee on Nov. 19 against Illinois. He attempted to play the following week during Michigan’s 45–23 win over Ohio State, but was forced to exit after a brief appearance. He did not suit up for the Wolverines’ Big Ten championship game or the College Football Playoff semifinal against TCU. Corum was eventually diagnosed with a torn meniscus and sprained MCL, requiring surgery.
In 12 games played in 2022, Corum rushed for 1,463 rushing yards and 18 touchdowns. Despite missing time with the knee injury, he finished seventh in the Heisman Trophy voting.
