Michigan paraded a ‘Free Jim’ Harbaugh sign around the field after taking down Penn State

The Michigan sign-stealing scandal has levels to it.

There’s the on-going legal battle, the team’s push for a Big Ten championship (and playoff appearance) and the whole, separate NCAA investigation.

Then there’s the player reaction side of things. The guys who have more impact over what happens on the field than anyone else during this whole saga. And if you thought they’d be any less dramatic than interim coach Sherrone Moore was during his NSFW postgame interview after beating Penn State on Saturday, you’re very wrong.

Following their single-word show of support on social media Friday night, Michigan players ran onto the field at Beaver Stadium carrying a white board that had the game’s final score, 24-15, and the words “Free Jim” written on it for all to see.

It was… a bit much.

Free Harbaugh from the State College Marriott?

After all, he’s still allowed to coach the team every single day. He just cannot be on the sidelines during games throughout the rest of the Big Ten regular season — which ends in two weeks.

Even that might not hold up after this week when a Michigan judge will get a chance to review the case as the school seeks a temporary restraining order from the Big Ten’s suspension.

Just another college football Saturday.
