Michigan officers recently demonstrated exceptional bravery and quick thinking to save a driver who was experiencing a medical emergency along a busy stretch of road. The incident, captured on camera by the Macomb County Sheriff's Office, took place on September 12 at around 2:18 p.m.
Deputies responded to reports of a silver GMC Sierra driving erratically. Deputies Nicole Miron and Anthony Gross attempted to pull over the vehicle, but the 63-year-old male driver failed to stop and continued driving at a slow speed of approximately 5 mph.
Body camera footage revealed that the driver seemed disoriented and unresponsive to commands. Eventually, he pressed on the brakes, further slowing down the vehicle.
In a daring move, Deputy Miron managed to climb through the driver's side window while the truck was still in motion. Her small stature and quick reflexes allowed her to enter the vehicle without causing harm to the driver.
The Clinton Township Fire Department arrived at the scene and provided medical assistance to the driver, who was confirmed to be experiencing a medical episode.
Sheriff Anthony Wickersham commended Deputy Miron for her courageous actions, stating, 'I commend Deputy Miron for putting herself in harm’s way to help a citizen in need and protect other drivers on the roadway. Due to her quick thinking and selfless actions, she safely ended what could have been a tragic situation.'
