Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer has fueled speculation about a potential 2028 presidential bid, stating Thursday that she has "nothing to announce," just hours after seemingly ruling out a run. Her latest remarks at the Mackinac policy conference walked back an earlier definitive statement, leaving her political future open to interpretation.
"You know, I never thought I would run for governor, so I guess I should know better than to say any of it. Never say never," Whitmer told attendees when pressed on her earlier comments. She added, "At this juncture, I’ve got nothing to announce."
