Michelle Mone 'should be jailed' over PPE scandal, ex pal Carol Vorderman tells This Morning

Carol Vorderman says her former pal Michelle Mone should be "slammed in jail where she belongs" over a PPE scandal. The former Countdown host appeared on ITV's This Morning on Friday when she broke her silence over a feud between the pair.

The telly favourite revealed she dropped the Scots underwear tycoon "like a stone as soon as she realised what kind of person she was." Carol laid into her former mate on the daytime programme, alleging the Conservative peer made millions out of a government contract - something which she denies.

The pair used to enjoy many luxury nights out together but that friendship started to fade away amid Michelle's alleged involvement in awarding of government PPE contracts, writes The Mirror.

Carol said: "I cannot talk about useless PPE without also talking about Michelle Mone who was brought into the House of Lords, as a baroness, by David Cameron.

"We know she has taken leave of absence without losing the Tory whip to start with because she was actively involved, as it goes, with a company called PPE Medpro."

And speaking directly into the camera, she added: "Sue me, Michelle." That forced presenter Alison Hammond to but in and say: "Carol, can I just say she's not here to defend herself."

Carol replied: "No she's not here to defend herself but I'm repeating what has been said in the press and what has proven to be true."

The UK Government awarded PPE Medpro a £200million contract in May 2020 to produce medical gowns, which were later alleged to not have been of "correct quality standards and specification".

The businesswoman "completely refutes" allegations of wrongdoing on her part or that of her her husband Douglas Barrowman.

Mone previously addressed allegations stating: “I was asked to help at a time of national emergency. I declared all necessary interests and have done nothing wrong."
