Michelle Keegan sends 'coming soon' message after surprising appearance change

Michelle Keegan has left her family and fans going wild as she sent a 'coming soon' message on social media. The actress couldn't help but share her excitement as the first trailer for her new series dropped.

Former Coronation Street star Michelle is set to star in the new BBC drama Ten Pound Poms, created by Bafta-award winner Danny Brocklehurst who she has previously worked with on the Sky comedy drama Brassic and BBC drama series Ordinary Lies. It was reveled last year that she will lead the six-part series alongside Games Of Thrones star Faye Marsay and Luther actor Warren Brown.

The drama, which Michelle spent time filming away from home last year, will follow a group who have been promised a better quality of life in Australia for only £10, leaving behind post-war Britain. Michelle will play a young nurse called Kate, who arrives in Australia without her fiance and will do whatever it takes to “rewrite her devastating past”, the BBC said.

Taking to Instagram over the weekend, Michelle shared a first look at the series as she wrote: "TEN POUND POMS COMING SOON." She went on to reveal: "Can’t wait for you guys to finally see what we were working on last year on the other side of the world. Watch TEN POUND POMS on BBC1 9pm Sunday 14th May."

Michelle's mother-in-law Carol Wright was among the first to respond, writing: "I can not wait for this it looks amazing @michkeegan I’m over excited. You superstar." While TV and theatre star Ore Oduba said: "Looks amazing Mich." Former Corrie co-star Catherine Tyldesley replied: "So giddy to see this!!! My Gran can’t wait! She was a ten pound Pom!!!!" And sister-in-law and reality star Jessica Wright added: "Beyond excited for this."

And fans were also just as excited for Michelle to return to screens. @sc3nt53y_donnarse84 said: "Ooooh can’t wait - you are amazing @michkeegan." @triciarabin commented: "Can’t wait to watch @michkeegan my mums aunt and uncle were #tenpoundpoms." @jackiekane01 wrote: "So looking forward to this."

@paulabreslin replied: "Oh love it already can't wait." @jolewis1308 echoed: "Omg can't wait to watch this." @debbieraven8 added: "Looking forward to this as I was a £10 Pom."

It comes after Michelle was seen looking completely different as she channelled an iconic singer during a hen party. The 35-year-old spent her weekend celebrating a friend's impending nuptials and let her hair down hula-hooping in a bright blue wig as the ladies formed pink and blue teams.

Guests, who also included former Emmerdale star Kelvin Fletcher's wife Liz, also dressed up as pop icons and Michelle channelled the late musical superstar Whitney Houston. Other hens channelled Kylie Minogue, Mariah Carey and Britney Spears. Michelle was almost unrecognisable in a curly wig and white vest from the idol's I Wanna Dance With Somebody era as snaps were shared on Instagram.
