Michelle Keegan says she 'doesn't understand' as she shares what she misses from life before Mark Wright Essex move

Michelle Keegan has said she 'doesn't understand' as she opened up about one of the things she misses while living in Essex after moving down south with her husband Mark Wright. The Stockport-born actress has lived away from her home city for a number of years.

Michelle and former The Only Way is Essex star Mark wed in 2015 in front of their family and friends at St Mary's Church in Bury St Edmunds. It had previously been documented that the couple had met three years before they said 'I Do' in Dubai. However, Mark has now revealed that they actually met backstage one year at The X Factor before subsequently bumping into each other at numerous other events after.

In more recent years, the loved-up couple have watched their dream home come to life. The couple previously took fans along with them on the journey of creating their dream property in Essex after purchasing the original property in 2019. They shared updates via their own home-based Instagram account, Wrighty Home and Mark and Michelle finally moved into their huge abode, said to be worth £3.5m, in September last year.

But despite having made the move down south some time ago, Michelle does still get to work a lot in her native city and its surrounding areas thanks to shows including Sky Comedy Brassic.

Despite revealing when she's in Essex she gets "itchy feet" and heads up north and "vice versa," Michelle has now revealed her one gripe: "I don't understand why you can't get chips and gravy down south," the 35-year-old said.

"I go for pie and mash but I don't like the liquor, so I get gravy and I'm like 'Why has gravy not taken off here?! It's so much nicer!" she added to Radio Times.

Michelle, who found fame aged 19 in 2007 when she landed the role of Tina McIntyre in Coronation Street, went on to reveal that despite often appearing glamourous, she's much more comfortable in a pair of pyjamas without wearing any makeup. And Michelle admits that she no longer enjoys the celebrity lifestyle, having grown up in the public eye, and has taken a step back from the celeb culture.

She explained: "I stopped enjoying it as much and I wanted a bit more privacy, it was just a thing that slowly happened where I grew the confidence to say that I wanted to keep some things to myself."

It comes as she's set to return to screens in new BBC One drama, Ten Pound Poms, created by Bafta-award winner Danny Brocklehurst who she has previously worked with on the Sky comedy drama Brassic and BBC drama series Ordinary Lies. It was reveled last year that she will lead the six-part series alongside Games Of Thrones star Faye Marsay and Luther actor Warren Brown.

The drama, which Michelle spent time filming away from home last year, will follow a group who have been promised a better quality of life in Australia for only £10, leaving behind post-war Britain. Michelle will play a young nurse called Kate, who arrives in Australia without her fiance and will do whatever it takes to “rewrite her devastating past”, the BBC said.

Taking to Instagram at the end of last month, Michelle shared a first look at the series as she wrote: "TEN POUND POMS COMING SOON." She went on to reveal: "Can’t wait for you guys to finally see what we were working on last year on the other side of the world. Watch TEN POUND POMS on BBC1 9pm Sunday 14th May."

She has since returned to the social media platform to share a string of images from filming Down Under last year. "1 week to go before Ten Pound Poms takes you back to 1956," she captioned the post shared on Sunday (May 7), with the first image showing her looking picture perfect in 1950s-inpsired attire.
