Netflix has released first-look snaps of Michelle Keegan in upcoming series Fool Me Once. The series is adapted from American mystery author Harlen Coben’s 2016 novel of the same name.
In the eight-part series, former Corrie actress Keegan plays the lead role of Maya Stern, who is trying to come to terms with the brutal murder of her husband, Joe (Obsession’s Richard Armitage). But when Maya installs a nanny-cam to keep an eye on her young daughter, she is shocked to see her husband, who she thought was dead.
Detective Sergeant Sami Kierce (Sherwood’s Adeel Akhtar) leads the homicide investigation into Joe’s death while grappling with secrets of his own. Meanwhile, Maya’s niece and nephew are trying to find the truth about their mother’s murder several months earlier.

The series also stars Absolutely Fabulous star Joanna Lumley as Joe’s protective mother Judith. The first-look snaps see Keegan cutting a sombre figure sporting a black blazer while surrounded by other actors dressed in all-black, suggesting the scene may be the funeral of her thought-to-be-late husband.
Filming for the series began in Manchester and around the Northwest in February. Keegan broke the news of her casting via an Instagram post the same month, saying she was “over the moon” to be taking part in the show alongside a photo of her reading the novel on which it is based.

Speaking to Netflix, Coben said: “Fool Me Once is a pulse-pounder – a shocking story of how secrets and deceit have the power to bring people together while simultaneously tearing them apart. I can’t wait to see how this dream cast brings these characters to life.”
Executive producer and lead writer Danny Brocklehurst added: “Harlan’s books are storytelling genius and it’s great to be entrusted once more in bringing his gripping stories of life. As always with our thrillers, expect twist upon twist and an emotional roller-coaster.
“Plus, the cast is phenomenal – audiences are in for a treat!”
