Michelle Keegan and Mark Wright defended again as fans respond to sofa snaps in £3.5m home

Michelle Keegan and Mark Wright have appeared to have caused another stir with their latest glimpse inside their stunning home which was two years in the making. The loved-up couple finally moved into their huge abode, said to be worth £3.5m, in September last year after two years worth of extensive renovation work.

Former The Only Way Is Essex star Mark and ex-Coronation Street actress Michelle took fans along with them on the journey of creating their dream home via their own Instagram account, Wrighty Home. The big move came after the pair, who married in 2015, bought the property in October 2019 before they began knocking it down in July 2020 to rebuild their own Georgian-style mansion.

They have since given his followers different glimpses inside his sprawling abode with the latest being on Wednesday (March 1). In the snaps they posted to their hundreds of thousands of followers, Mark and Michelle, both 35, showcased their unique round, cream sofa.

The seating which hugged a small circular coffee table, featured plenty of cushions with a cream throw withing grabbing distance. "One of our beautiful sofas and pillow collection by @bellahomeinteriors this one is in our kitchen lounge area," they wrote alongside the snap before adding: "Will show you the others soon."

But Mark and Michelle's choice of interior soon came in for criticism. @cheryl5998 said: "Looks like a 5 star hotel not homely all staged." @matt_harries commented: "Doesn’t look very comfortable." @mmwred wrote: "Show house is it lived in."

However, their fans were quick to come to their defence. @trac.ey916 said: "I love it. Take no notice of the comments they are just jealous and it shows,it's a sofa for god's sake. I had a sofa that colour once and when I sat on it I used a throw so it wouldn't get marked so what. People are so judgemental."

@lyndsey294 typed: "Wow, the comments on here already. Who says you can't have lighter/neutral shades and a family, friends & small children over. Drink wine, eat good food and still have it look nice? Clean lines and minimalist does not equate to "unhomely" it's just a different aesthetic. In the same way that filling your home with things that bring you joy doesn't make it "cluttered" and "untidy". Now would this stay like this in my home, probably not but that's me and I can still appreciate the fact it looks gorgeous!"

@danielle0182 posted: "The jealousy in the comments be reeeeeal! God forbid a drink or food marks their sofa! Imagine if you could have protection added into the material, and... wait for it..... CLEANING PRODUCTS!!! Just unfollow and go sit on your black sofa, probably still with the plastic wrap on!" @missrkelly1 added: "All the Debbie Downers on here. Not everyone plans their decor around ‘would be’ kids. If they decide to have them (their business) I’m sure they’ll find a way to cope."

It comes after Michelle and Mark showed off their scandi-style interiors including neutral toned colour scheme, modern sculptures and intricate light fittings last month. Alongside a string of photos, Mark on their @wrightyhome Instagram page wrote: "Here we go as promised, some interiors. We wanted to use a company that could supply the majority of stuff, allowing us to get everything through the same company for ease reasons."

"@olivias.uk had everything and more, moreover, totally to our taste. Here are some of our fave products," the post added. But despite the explanation, some were unimpressed by the decision to bring a company in to decorate the home.
