Michail Antonio crash: West Ham striker airlifted to hospital

West Ham striker Michail Antonio was airlifted to hospital after crashing his Ferrari in Essex earlier today.

Michail Antonio update: West Ham confirm striker in stable condition

Antonio’s condition is currently stable according to a statement from the club on X (formerly Twitter):

“West Ham United can confirm that Michail Antonio is in a stable condition following a road traffic accident this afternoon in the Essex area.

“Michail is conscious and communicating and is currently under close supervision at a central London hospital.

“At this difficult time, we kindly ask everyone to respect the privacy of Michail and his family. The Club will make no further comment this evening, but will issue a further update in due course.”

As seen in the tweet above, Antonio’s Ferrari looks worse for wear and there is a chance he could have sustained some serious injuries – but hopefully he’s able to come out of it in good order.

The Jamaican international has scored once in 11 starts so far in the Premier League this season and his status for Monday night’s home game against Wolves remains unknown.

It is also unclear whether the severe weather has played a part in the crash, with Storm Darragh forcing a number of postponements across the country due to unsafe conditions.

The Hammers are currently enduring a dry patch of form in the league and head coach Julen Lopetegui looks to be holding onto his job by the skin of his teeth, with the Londoners priced at 8/1 for the drop by the best football betting sites.

Antonio came on as a 62nd minute substitute in West Ham’s 3-1 defeat at Leicester on Tuesday.
