Michael Owen agrees with pundit over Everton vs Man City score prediction

Manchester City are being tipped to get back to winning ways against relegation-threatened Everton.

A masterclass from Tottenham striker Harry Kane saw Pep Guardiola and his star-studded team slip up in their last Premier League fixture. It was an eye-catching result that blew this season's title race wide open.

City still hold a three-point advantage over second-placed Liverpool and the Reds have another competition on their agenda on Sunday afternoon. Liverpool and Chelsea are set to do battle at Wembley in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday as City take centre stage a little less than 24 hours prior in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

Here is what two top pundits think will happen during the Everton game on Merseyside.

Mark Lawrenson - BBC Sport

Speaking to BBC Sport, the former Liverpool man said: "Everton's relegation worries are already real, but if Burnley and Newcastle both win earlier on Saturday, the Toffees will be in the bottom three for the first time this season by the time this game kicks-off.

"It doesn't matter how good you are, when you are a side down there and in the relegation zone, especially at this stage of the campaign, that then brings pressure and you need a different mentality from your players to deal with it. Some just aren't able to.

"It's defensively where Everton's problems lie. They are porous and a team as good as Manchester City will take full advantage of that.

"Frank Lampard can try packing his defence, I suppose, but I still don't think they will keep City out."

Score prediction: Everton 0-3 Man City

Michael Owen - BetVictor

In his latest BetVictor column, Owen said: "Everton's performance at Southampton last week was alarming.

"They never really threatened them and their away form has been shocking. They've got the worst away record in the league and that needs to change soon. It's going to be a massive few weeks ahead for Frank Lampard.

"A shock defeat to Spurs should serve as a wake-up call to City.

"They didn't play badly in that game, but they made some uncharacteristic mistakes at the back.

"With Liverpool breathing down their necks, they can't afford another slip-up.

"I can only see a City win here. Everton are struggling and City should score a few goals at Goodison."

Score prediction: Everton 1-3 Man City
