Michael Keaton open to MCU return

Michael Keaton hasn’t ruled out returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe

Michael Keaton hasn’t ruled out returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

The 73-year-old actor played the Vulture in 2017’s ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ - also cameoing as the character in Sony’s ‘Morbius’ five years later - and has hinted he hasn’t completely closed the door on the villain even though he hasn’t been approached by the studio to reprise the role.

When Screen Rant asked Keaton if he would be willing to suit up again as the Vulture now that Sony was officially moving forward with director Destin Daniel Cretton for the fourth ‘Spider-Man’ movie, he said: "That's an interesting character, that guy. Actually, I was there for a minute in the second one ... That really was a fun experience, but I haven’t talked to anybody about anything."

He joked: "I try not to talk to anybody. I really don't like people."

While his MCU future remains uncertain, Keaton revealed he would be interested in playing Beetlejuice again after he recently reprised the role for ‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’ - the long-awaited sequel to director Tim Burton’s 1988 horror-comedy.

When E! News asked if he would consider playing the chaotic ghost again in a third film in the series, Keaton said: "Oh man, I’d do it every year. Yeah!"

The ‘Goodrich’ star returned to the franchise alongside Winona Ryder and Catherine O’Hara, though only agreed to reprise his role in the sequel so long as Beetlejuice didn’t dominate the story.

He explained to GQ: "The idea was, no, no, no, you can’t load it up with Beetlejuice, that’ll kill it.

"I think the Beetlejuice character doesn’t drive the story as much as he did in the first one. He’s more part of the storyline in this one as opposed to the first one, which is a case of this thing comes in and drives the movie a little bit."
