Michael J Fox fans concerned by frail actor as he thanks fans after scary on-stage fall

Michael J Fox took to Instagram to thank his fans for coming to a Back to the Future fan convention.

The star, best known for his role as Marty McFly in the hugely successful trilogy, looked frail in the uploads as he continues to struggle with Parkinson's Disease.

Michael, now 61, was diagnosed with the condition in 1991 and suffered a fall while taking to the stage in Philadelphia on Sunday.

However, despite the scary scenes, he was see to be uninjured and continued the event alongside his former co-stars.

The tumble thankfully seemed to be softened by a couch nearby, with him having fallen onto the piece of furniture on stage rather than him hitting the floor.

Taking to social media a day later, Michael skirted over the incident and instead thanked those in attendance. "To the city of brotherly love, thanks so much!" he wrote.

"Great fans @fanexpophiladelphia, great food at @middlechildclubhouse, fantastic time, we will be back!"

The images showed a frail looking Michael alongside his co-stars, including Thomas F Wilson who played Biff in the movies and Christopher Lloyd, who played Doc.

Michael wore a blue t-shirt and sported a grey beard while smiling at the camera. Thomas opted for a smarter look, wearing a suit jacket and pocket square. Christopher went for a plain black jumper for the occasion.

In another image, Michael was sat in a chair while actor Henry Winkler was kneeling beside him. Michael chose a white t-shirt and navy and yellow baseball cap while Henry was in a checked shirt.

A third had him posing from a vantage point in the city while wearing a black t-shirt with the Misfits emblazoned across the front.

Many fans took to the comments section of his upload to share their thoughts. While some wished him well and praised the conventions, others were concerned for him.

One user wrote: "Poor Michael," with a sad face emoji. A second asked him: "How is your health?" and added a string of heart emojis.

A number of other users simply took to the post to quote lines from the hit franchise.

In an earlier documentary, Michael had seemingly suggested that he believes his heavy partying in the 1980s could have caused damage to his health.

He made the stark claim while talking to CBS Sunday Morning about his new documentary, STILL: A Michael J Fox Movie.

The actor, who lives with Parkinson's disease, was asked by Jane Pauley about a previous speech he made after being presented with an honorary Oscar by Woody Harrelson in 2022.

He told his actor pal at the time: "We did some damage. We did some damage in the '80s."

Jane honed in on whether it was possible he did actually do "damage to himself" with his hard partying, to which Michael responded: "I mean, there’s so many ways that you can … that I could’ve hurt myself.

"I could’ve hit my head. I could’ve drank too much at a certain developmental period."
